    • PURPOSE:To cur off current following the lightning surge within one cycle and greatly lower the cost by connecting elements having a current rectifying function in reversely parallel to thyrister elements and forming gaps in series to these elements. CONSTITUTION:Diodes, which are elements 5 having a current rectifying function, and thyrister elements 1 having gate circuits 4 are connected in reversely parallel to each other and gasp 6 are formed in series to them. To provide high withstand voltage, the thyrister elements and elements 5 having a current rectifying function are installed in multistages. Consequently, electric power source system 2 is insulated by the gaps 6 at normal time, and when lightning surge current is generated, the gaps 6 carry out electric discharge and at the same time the thyrister elements are turned on at thigh speed by gate signals from the gate circuits 4. As a result, the current run from the power source system 2 to the ground 3 through the thyrister elements 1 and the current from the ground 3 to the power source system 2 runs through diodes, which are the elements 5 having a current rectifying function and thus the power source 2 is protected from the lightning surge current.

    • PURPOSE:To compensate voltage variation instantaneously and continuously by connecting a voltage detecting circuit which detects the load-side voltage of a line to a voltage adjusting circuit and stabilizing the load-side voltage of the line on the basis of the detected voltage from the voltage detector. CONSTITUTION:A transformer 30 for adjustment 30 boosts a voltage in expectation of a voltage drop due to a load current and the voltage adjusting circuit 50 places in a series transformer 40 in operation according to the load-side detected voltage of the line obtained by the voltage detector 70. The capacity of the voltage adjusting circuit 50 is reduced through the voltage boosting operation of the transformer 30 for adjustment, and consequently heat loss due to the heat generation of a thyristor constituting the main circuit part of the voltage adjusting circuit 50 is reducible, thereby reducing electric power loss. Even if abrupt voltage variation is caused on the line, the series transformer 40 can raise or lower the load-side voltage of the line instantaneously and continuously through the operation of the voltage adjusting circuit 50. Consequently, the voltage variation can be compensated instantaneously and continuously.
