    • PURPOSE:To provide a heat exchange body which has excellent heat exchange efficiency, is decreased in a pressure loss, and has excellent thermal shock resistance, by a method wherein a matrix segment having a crystal phase consisting mainly of cordierite and honeycomb structure having a specific coefficient of thermal expansion is extrusion-molded, and after calcination, a given ceramic cementing material is coated for cementing, and thereafter it is dried and calcined. CONSTITUTION:A cordierite material having the coefficient of thermal expansion being as low as 0.06% or less in the direction of a flow passage at up to 800 deg.C is molded to form a matrix segment having honeycomb structure formed in cell shape, e.g. a triangle, a square, and a hexagon, by an extrusion-molding method and is calcined. By using a plurality of matrix segments 1, the segments 1 are processed so as to form an integral rotary heat accumulation type ceramic heat exchange body 2. A ceramic cementing material having a chemical composition consisting mainly of LiO2, Al2O3, SiO2 and a crystal phase consisting mainly of beta-spodumene solid solution is coated and cemented so that thickness after calcination will be 0.1-6mm. After it is dried enough it is calcined under conditions of 1,250-1,320 deg.C and 15-90min to obtain a rotary heat accumulation type ceramic heat exchange body.
