摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a passage capable of running a nonaqueous electrolyte formed in an active material layer sufficiently and as required, and capable of lowering overvoltage in initial charge.
SOLUTION: This negative electrode 10 for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises an active material layer 12 containing particles 12a of an active material. At least a part of the surface of each particle 12a is coated with a metal material 13 having low capability of forming a lithium compound. Voids are formed among the particles 12a that are coated with the metal material 13. When the active material layer 12 is imaginarily divided into two equal parts in its thickness direction, the amount of the metal material 13 on the nearer side to the surface of the negative electrode is smaller than the amount of the metal material 13 on the farther side from the surface of the negative electrode.
