    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficiency yellow fluorophor having an excitation band in a near-ultraviolet region in the vicinity of 400 nm wavelength. SOLUTION: The yellow fluorophor is preferably such one as for near-ultraviolet excitation use that comprises a crystal matrix based on BaS with Cu + as emission center. This yellow fluorophor emits in high efficiency by near-ultraviolet excitation, enabling white light emission through combination with blue, green and red fluorophors, also enabling white light emission through combination with a blue emitter. Therefore, fluorophors for use in white LED can be provided using this yellow fluorophor. Further, in illumination applications and display device sectors, fluorophors for use in liquid crystal backlight and CRT can be provided. Furthermore, this yellow fluorophor is applicable to special light sources and forgeryproof printing. Besides, using this yellow fluoropor, electronic display devices including FED(field emission display), PDP(plasma display) and EL(electroluminescence) can also be provided.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tin oxide particles showing high electrical conductivity and transparency when formed into a film. SOLUTION: The tin oxide particles contain two or more types of tin having different valences in the range of divalent to tetravalent, do not substantially contain a dopant element, and have electric conductivity. The tin oxide particles are preferably produced by mixing an aqueous solution containing divalent tin and an alkali to form a hydroxide of divalent tin in the liquid, and by oxidizing the formed hydroxide of divalent tin in the liquid to oxidize a part of the divalent tin to more than divalent to tetravalent tin.
