    • PURPOSE:To grind uniformly a roll with a grinding device made into a simple construction by using just one grinding wheel for a piece of the roll, grinding the entire width of the roll and rolling over the grinding surface near the transverse central part of the roll. CONSTITUTION:The grinding wheel G is started from the point A at the body end of the work roll 1 and the roll 1 is ground toward the transverse central part S thereof. The axial center of rotation of the grinding wheel G is inclined inward by an angle thetawith the normal of the roll surface and one side of the cup surface of the grinding wheel is pressed to the roll surface, then the wheel G is rotated according to the rotation of the roll 1. The wheel G is detached from the roll surface when the wheel G arrives at the point B near the transverse central part S of the roll. The grinding wheel G is then retreated to the position B' and rolled over to the position C' where the angle theta of inclination of the axial center of rotation of the wheel G is inverted and again the grinding wheel is pressed to the roll surface as shown by C. The roll is ground toward the point D at the other roll body end. The wheel arrived at the point D is moved in the opposite direction and the roll is again ground to the point C. The wheel is retreated and rolled over at the point P and the roll is ground between B and A.

    • PURPOSE:To form easily and quickly a gear without dimensional errors and to reduce cost by heating locally the outside circumferential surface of an annular blank material to a prescribed temp., pressing a toothed punch thereto to deform plastically the blank material and performing said operation at an equal interval over the entire circumference of the blank material. CONSTITUTION:An annular blank material 1 is inserted and fixed to a mandrel 2 having a stopper 4. The outside circumferential surface of the ring is locally heated to a prescribed temp. in a high frequency furnace C and a toothed punch X is pressed thereto to deform plastically the material 1 to a tooth profile. Such operation is executed at an equal interval over the entire circumference of the blank material. Since the material is locally heated, the dimensional error over the entire part is decreased and the material is worked in a short time. The gear may be subjected again to hot punching or be finished by final cold punching in order to improve the accuracy of the tooth profile.

    • PURPOSE:To work a large sized gear with a small device in a short time by heating the prescribed part on the outside circumference of a cylindrical blank material, and pressing a roll conforming to a tooth profile to the heated part while rotating the same. CONSTITUTION:A ring blank material 1 is fixed by means of a mandrel 2 and a stopper 4 and the part to be worked is heated with a high frequency furnace C, etc. A roll X for rough finishing which is kept rotated is pressed to the heated part to work a piece of tooth. The roll X is then retreated and the mandrel 2 and the material 1 are rotated by one pitch. The heating and the rough finishing by the roll X are repeated. The roll X is exchanged with a roll Y for finishing upon completion of the rough finishing and the similar process is repeated until the working of a large sized gear A is completed. The finer crystal grains are formed in the material in the worked part by such method and the product having excellent strength performance is obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the production efficiency by making the grip diameter of a chuck jaw automatically adjustable. CONSTITUTION:The outer diameters of works 51, 52, 53, 54 are machined into 4 sizes of D1, D2, D3, D4; and the inner diameters are machined into 3 sizes of d1, d2, d3. In the first process, the outer periphery of a raw material is gripped by a top jaw 55 with a hard claw, and the inner diameter and the side face shown by a heavy line are machined. Usage of claw sections (p), (q), (r) is not limited, and a suitable claw section is used. Next in the second process, the work is reversed, the inner diameter and the side face machined in the first process are used as a reference and their inner periphery is gripped. The top jaw 56 of the second process is provided with claw sections P, Q, R, which are selected in coincidence with the inner periphery of the work.
