CONSTITUTION:Many machining programs are previously stored in a memory device 11a. That is, a machining requirement such as a quantity of electrodes, presence of oscillating machining, presence of a pitch feed, oscillating method and machined surface roughness of a work 2 at its machining finish or the like is provided, and the machining program is prepared by combination of this machining requirement. The various electrical condition in electric discharge machining, being set to this machining program, determines the various condition of machining speed, surface roughness and consumption ratio of the electrode or the like.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum and stable electric discharge machining state at all times, by detecting the time when the tip of an electrode has pierced a material to be machined, based on a servo voltage change pattern and the electrode moving direction, so that the machining is automatically completed. CONSTITUTION:To electrically detect the servo voltage change pattern for detecting piercing of the electrode, a servo voltage change detecting apparatus 18, a converter 36 and a servo voltage change pattern discriminating circuit 38 are provided. The second factor for detecting electrically the direction of the movement of the electrode is the direction of the movement of the electrode. To detect electrically the movement of the electrode, an electrode position detecting apparatus 30 and an electrode moving direction discriminating circuit 34 are provided. When piercing has been done, since the output signal from the discriminating circuit 38 is ''H'', and the output signal from the discriminating circuit 34 is ''H'', an AND circuit 40 feeds a stopping signal to an electric source unit 16 to cut off the power source to complete the machining.

When piercing has been done, the electrode is moved down, its gap is opened, the flow rate of the machining liquid is increased, and the machining liquid rate discriminating circuit 44 retains its signal ''H'', and further since the output signal from the servo voltage change pattern discriminating circuit 38 is ''H'', an AND circuit 40 feeds a stopping signal to an electric source unit 16 to cut off the power source to complete the machining.

    • PURPOSE:To machine a corner part with precision without diminishing a machining speed by a method wherein the suspension time of impressed pulses is controlled so that the density of machining energy may be constant in proportion to the change of machining area. CONSTITUTION:In a wire cut electric discharge machining etc. to finish the propile and the shape of a work during relative movement of a wire electrode 2 to the work, when the electrode 2 changes its advancing direction, the area of a machining part 3 (the oblique line part) decreases the instant its direction changes. In order to prevent abnormal machining at a corner part 5 by the change of this machining area, under a fixed feed speed of the electrode the change of the machining area caused by directional change is calculated in advance as a function of changing angle to advancing direction, electrode feed speed, machining groove width etc. and the suspension time is controlled according to the machining area so that the density of machining energy may be fixed. Thus, a high precision machining can be acomplished without lowering machining speed.
