      SOLUTION: In a washing machine equipped with a triac control means which is connected to an end of a commercial power source and controls a normal rotation triac and a reverse rotation triac for varying power supply to a motor which has a main winding and an auxiliary winding, a laundry amount sensing means which detects the amount of laundry in a dewatering tub is provided. A triac control means controls a normal rotation triac or a reverse rotation triac so that it rotates at a high dewatering rotation speed after rotating a spin-drying tub at a regular low dewatering rotation speed only during a given spin-drying time according to the amount of laundry detected by the laundry amount sensing means.
