SOLUTION: A linear compressor comprises a member for elastically supporting a piston 4 inserted into a cylinder 7, a first stopper portion 45a for stopping a slide seat 14 supporting the member and movable in the reciprocating direction at a predetermined position against the reaction force of the elastic member with a pressing means in the opposite direction of more than the reaction force generated on the elastic member, and a second stopper portion 45b for stopping the slide seat 14 at a predetermined position againt the pressing force of the pressing means. Thereby a neutral point movement can be surely performed without coupling a resonance system as a gas spring by the back pressure space of the slide seat 14, and a capacity controllable linear compressor of high efficiency can be provided.
