    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent method for separating a hydrocarbon-based mixed gas.SOLUTION: This method for separating a hydrocarbon-based mixed gas uses a metal complex comprising: a dicarboxylic acid compound (I); at least one metal ion selected from metal ions belonging to group 2 and groups 7-12 of the periodic table; and an organic ligand bidentate-coordinatable to the metal ion. The dicarboxylic acid compound (I) comprises: 1-30 mol% of a dicarboxylic acid compound (I-1) selected from isophthalic acid derivatives which may have an electron-donating group at 5-position such as 5-methoxyisophthalic acid and isophthalic acid; and 99-70 mol% of a dicarboxylic acid compound (I-2) selected from isophthalic acid derivatives or 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid derivatives having an electron-withdrawing group at 5-position such as 5-nitroisophthalic acid, 5-formylisophthalic acid, 5-fluoroisophthalic acid, 5-chloroisophthalic acid, 5-bromoisophthalic acid, 5-iodoisophthalic acid, etc.

      SOLUTION: A method of hydrogenating a β-pinene-based polymer is provided, which in a reaction obtaining the β-pinene-based polymer by converting unsaturated bonds present in main chains and/or side chains of a polymer containing 30 mass% or more of a β-pinene unit into saturated bonds by a hydrogenation reaction, comprises using as a hydrogenation catalyst a metal supported on a carrier containing neither aluminum element nor silicon element. A β-pinene-based polymer obtained by the hydrogenation method is also provided.
