    • PURPOSE:To attach and detach efficiently and safely the cover of a ladle by constituting a pair of hooks and a pair of suspending handles in such a way that these members can be engaged and disengaged. CONSTITUTION:Removal of a ladle cover 2 is accomplished by extending a piston 21A in an electrically driven cylinder 21 to bring down beforehand hooks 5A, 5B. If a motor 13 is run forward, a frame carriage 6 advances and the hooks 5A, 5B advance as well. A limit switch is tripped by a striker for detecting the ladle cover upon contacting of the striker with the cover 2, then the hooks 5A, 5B stop advancing. When the piston 21A in the cylinder 21 is returned, the hooks 5A, 5B are engaged with suspending handles 3A, 3B and stop after ascending by a prescribed height. The hooks 5A, 5B retreat when the motor 13 is run backward in this state, then the cover 2 is easily removed from a ladle 1.

    • PURPOSE:To highly efficiently perform scraping works with appropriate melt scraping amounts according to the kind of flaws, by installing a torch and projector to a traverse carriage mounted on a running truck through an elevating arm and by operating the torch in accordance with a flaw mark detect signal outputted from a camera device. CONSTITUTION:A camera device 29 is installed above a traverse carriage 11 mounted on a running truck 6 which runs along a bed 1 and flow marks 3 on a billet 4 on the bed 1 are detected. The head section of a torch fitted to the carriage 11 moves near to the flaw mark 3. Then, the truck 6 and carriage 11 are moved and the reticle thrown by the projector 27 is made to coincide with the flaw mark 3 and an elevating arm 18 is lowered. A plasma output electric current is set on a controller 46 according to the flaw mark 3 and the flaw is melt scraped off by moving the truck 6 and operating a following-up device 21, blow-off nozzle 25, and plasma torch 24. When the scraping work is completed, the plasma arc is extinguished and the truck moves to the next flaw position with the elevating arm 18 at the lifted position.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain low phosphorus, low-sulfur and high-carbon steel of a high grade surely and economically by mixing low-phosphorus and low-sulfur iron at a proper amt. with refined low phosphorus, low sulfur and low carbon steel. CONSTITUTION:The molten iron C obtd. in a blast furnace BF is treated with dephosphorizing and desulfurizing agents of soda ash or lime to obtain molten iron C-1. The iron C-1 is charged into a converter 2, where a flux 3 is added thereto and the molten iron is subjected to blowing under ordinary conditions, whereby the molten steel C-2 of low phosphorus, low sulfur and low carbon is obtained. The steel C-2 is transferred into a mixing pan 4, where a disoxidizing agent 5 is charged thereto, whereby molten steel C-3 is obtained. On the other hand, the molten iron C of low phosphorus, low sulfur and high carbon obtd. by dephosphorization and desulfurization of the other molten iron C' by the method similar to the above-mentioned method is added to the steel C-3 in said pan 4 and both are mixed, whereby molten steel C-5 of low phosphorus, low sulfur and high carbon is obtained. Thereafter, a product C-6 is obtained by the processes similar to those in the prior art. The product C-6 is the low- phosphorus, low-sulfur and high-carbon steel contg., for example, 0.72% C, 0.25% Si, 0.65% Mn, 0.005% P, and 0.005% S.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease of the desulfurizing effect of the desulfurizing agent caused by the solidification of the blast furnace slag in the presence of the desulfurizing agent, and prevent also the discharge of the slag due to the solidification, at the time of subjecting the molten iron contg. the blast furnace slag to out-of-furnace desulfurizing treatment in a mixer car or the like, by simultaneously adding the slag modifying material of the specific constitution. CONSTITUTION:In the process of receiving the molten iron tapped from a blast furnace into a mixer car and transferring the same to a steel making factory, a desulfurizing agent such as CaC2 or CaO is blown into the molten iron by a carrier gas such as N2 and out-of-furnace desulfurization is accomplished. Since in this case some molten blast furnace slag exists in the mixer car besides the molten iron, it reacts with said desulfurizing agent of a high melting temp., and this elevates the melting temp. of the blast furnace slag and causes the slag to solidify. The solidified blast furnace slag becomes difficult to be discharged from the mixer car and this gives rise to resulfurization from the solid slag. To prevent these, the slag modifying agent comprising 30-55% SiO2, 20%>Al2O3, 5-25% MgO, 5-10% compound of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals and iron oxide such as Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 is added to lower the m.p. of the blast furnace slag and improve its fluidity, thereby preventing the slag from solidifying.
