    • PURPOSE:To produce a thinly hot dip zinc coated steel sheet having good surface quality at a low cost by implanting Mo ions to the surface of a steel sheet then passing the steel sheet in a hot dip zinc coating bath and adjusting the deposition of plating by air wiping. CONSTITUTION:The steel sheet 1 to be galvanized is annealed in a continuous annealing furnace 2 and while the surface is beautifully maintained by reducing the surface in a fine reducing gaseous atmosphere 6, the steel sheet is conducted from a snout 3 continuously into the hot dip zinc coating bath 4. The hot dip zinc coated steel sheet 1 is passed through an air wiping device 5 where the deposition of the galvanizing is adjusted to a prescribed value and the hot dip zinc coated steel sheet is continuously obtd. An Mo ion implanting device 7 is disposed in the position in preferably the position extremely near the plating bath 4 surface in the snout 3 to implant and add the ions of Mo to the cleaned surface of the steel sheet 1. The Mo enriched layer of preferably about 0.1-1.0mum is formed on the steel sheet 1, by which the air wiping is efficiently executed while the formation of an Fe-Zn alloy layer is suppressed. The thinly hot dip zinc coated steel sheet plated at about per face is thus obtd.
