    • PURPOSE:To work a twisted workpiece with high accuracy in turning the outer periphery of the twisted workpiece by rotating a rotary tool located eccentrically and an angle to the straight axis and feeding the rotary tool in the direction of straight axis with a ratio of constant pitch to the rotation of workpiece. CONSTITUTION:A hut 16 on a tool head 10 is loosened to turn a turn bed 15 and set an angle theta so that the position of a cutting tool 23 on the tip of a rotary tool 4 is adjusted at the upper end position of a blank. A tool driving motor 18 is rotatably driven to rotate the rotary tool 4. To make always the twisting direction of a workpiece W coinciding with the direction theta of tool 4, the tool 4 is fed by a Y axis feed motor 13 and the workpiece W is rotated by a drive motor 17. Assuming the rotational frequency of work piece W is N, pitch is P and feed in the Y axis direction is f, the workpiece W and rotary tool 4 are fed with relative ratio of N=f/p. Thus, the worked twisted workpiece W is worked while entering a space section 22 of rotary tool 4.

    • PURPOSE:To automate and simplify a workpiece mounting operation by means of the damping operation used also for a lathe body by directly clamping a workpiece mounting device on a slide portion of the lathe body. CONSTITUTION:A sliding surface 4 is formed on a base 1 in a horizontal direction, a saddle is mounted beyond it and is made to slide by a servomotor 6 to the right and left sides. A sliding surface is laid at right angles to the sliding surface 4, and a workpiece mounting device 7 is equipped on it. The holder 7C of the device 7 is moved to a workpiece on the conveyor, the workpiece is held by the holder 7C, and the workpiece is transferred to the mounting device 3. When the workpiece is held by claws 3', the holder 7C releases the work, rises, retires, waits until the workpiece has been machined completely. As soon as the machining operation has been completed, the workpiece on the device 3 is held by the holder 7C and transferred.

SOLUTION: The splash guard 6, forming an opening 35 through which a main spindle table 4 can pass while moving and capable of covering the opening 35 when the main spindle table 4 has moved to the machining area 7, comprises an expansion sheet part 37 comprising a first cover 41 and a second cover 42, the first cover 41 comprising a first slide-contact surface which is fixed to a saddle 13 moving in a direction of the X-axis, moves in a direction of the X-axis with the saddle 13 and is provided in extension in a direction orthogonal to a plane containing the opening 35, the second cover 42 being provided with a second slide- contact surface parallel to the first slide-contact surface, the second cover 42 sliding in a direction of the X-axis relative to the first cover 41 and covering the opening 35 when the opening 35 and the second slide-contact surface slide-contacts, a pull spring 45 always biasing the second cover 42 relatively in a direction of the machining area 7, and a restricting means 46 for restricting a moving action of the second cover 42 against the spring force when the main spindle table 4 has moved to the machining area 7 and for locking the second cover 42 at a predetermined position, in which the second slide-contact part covers the opening 35.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance facility efficiency at setup change work for specialized tools in applying end work to a tubular material to be worked. SOLUTION: A main shaft 5 is rotatably supported. Installed are a main shaft support 3 movably provided to a head in a shaft line C direction of a main shaft, a face plate 20 installed on the main shaft 5 and integrally rotating with the main shaft 5, and a copy roller 23 kept into contact with the peripheral face of a steel pipe 8, one slider 21 movably provided on the face plate 20 in the diameter direction of the face plate 20 intersecting with the shaft line of the main shaft and carrying out movement actuation interlocking with the copy roller on the peripheral face of the steel pipe 8, and a working tool for the steel pipe. The face plate 20 is provided with the other slider 22 relatively movable in the diameter direction of the face plate 20 with respect to the slider 21. Numerical control is applied to the movement of the main shaft support in the shaft line direction of the main shaft, and the movement of the other slider in the face plate diameter direction. The result moves the tool on a desired tool passage based on the peripheral face as a reference and works.
