    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a low drive voltage by lowering of an energy barrier in electron injection from a negative electrode into an organic compound layer irrespective of work function of a negative electrode material. SOLUTION: On a base plate, (a) a positive electrode layer, (b) an organic structure containing at least one luminous layer, (c) a low-resistance electron transport layer as a mixture layer of an electron-donating metal dopant and an organic compound, (d) an organic-metal-complex-containing layer made by including an organic metal complex compound containing at least one kind out of alkaline metal ion, alkali earth metal ion, and rare earth metal ion, (e) a reaction production layer, and (f) a negative electrode layer are laminated in turn, of which, at least either the positive electrode layer or the negative electrode layer is transparent, and the reaction production layer is produced by oxidation reduction reaction through filming of heat-reducing metal, which can reduce metal ion in the organic metal complex compound into metal in the vacuum on the organic-metal-complex-containing layer.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which takes advantage of the combination of a plurality of hole transport layers for carrying holes poured from a positive electrode layer to a light-emitting layer to reduce a controversial barrier of hole transport, while keeping the stability of driving life time of the element, and to result in reduction of voltage for initiating light emission and reduction of power consumption. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element comprises a positive electrode layer, a negative electrode layer opposed to the positive electrode layer, and a light-emitting layer containing organic compound and placed between these electrode layers. Holes are injected from the positive electrode layer and electrons injected from the negative layer excite the organic compound in the light-emitting layer which emits light. At least one of hole transport layers, containing an electron receiving material, is placed between the positive and negative electrode layers so that the electron receiving material does not come into contact with the positive electrode.
