    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-purity boric ester compound low in the moisture content measurement determined by Karl Fischer titration and slight in impurities including monool compound, unreacted products such as trimethyl borate and methanol formed during the reaction.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing the boric ester compound comprises the step of conducting a reaction between 1 mol of a monool compound of formula(1):X-(AO)
      n -H( wherein, X is a dehydrogenated residue having one hydroxy group; AO is a 2-4C oxyalkylene group; and n is the average number of addition moles, being 1-600 ) and 0.4-2.0 mol of trimethyl borate in the presence of a methanol-adsorbing molecular sieve and the subsequent step of putting the resultant boric ester compound to higher purity by removing unreacted trimethyl borate and methanol formed in association with boric acid transesterification reaction.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for driving an electrolytic capacitor that can improve a withstanding voltage while suppressing an increase in specific resistance.
      SOLUTION: A compound represented by a formula (1) is dissolved by 1 to 20 wt.% in a solvent composed principally of ethylene glycol etc., to raise the withstanding voltage while suppressing a decrease in the conductivity of the electrolyte. In the formula (1), R1 represents the residues of a hydroxy compound having 3 to 6 hydrooxyl groups, OA represents an oxyalkylene group with carbon numbers of 2 to 4, and R2 represents a hydrocarbon group with carbon numbers of 1 to 18 or a group represented by a formula (2). Here, (n) represents the average added mol number of the oxyalkylene group, and (n) is 1 to 50; and (x) is 1 or 3 to 6 and n×x is 1 to 150. In the formula (2), (a) represents the number of methylene groups and is 1 to 15.
