    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a misfire detecting device for an internal combustion engine by which misfire can be accurately detected even when an ignition plug is in a smoldering state.
      SOLUTION: The misfire is normally detected on the basis of the time integrated value of an ion current, and at the same time, when the ignition plug 12 is determined to be in the smoldering state, a difference between a voltage value (a first voltage value V1) of a fluctuation amount of the ion current during a prescribed period, more concretely, during a period when an ion current waveform is formed during combustion (a first voltage value detecting period Tv1) and a voltage value (a second voltage value V2) during the period when the generation of the ion current is finished and the current waveform is converged to a leaked current waveform (a second voltage value detecting period Tv2) is calculated and the misfire is detected by comparing the calculated difference with a prescribed value.
