    • PURPOSE:To make the distribution of thickness in the width direction of a strip effectively adjustable and to control properly a passing position in the width direction to a rolling mill, by passing a continuously running strip to be rolled through a tension generating device consisting of an upper roll and two lower rolls located at the inlet side of the mill. CONSTITUTION:In feeding a strip S such as a steel strip, the distribution of its tension in its width direction is adjusted by passing it through a tension generating device located at the inlet side of a rolling mill to control the passing position of strip S in its width direction. The tension control device is constituted of an upper roll 3 and two lower rolls 1, 2, and the rolls 1, 2 are fixed to a lower frame 4 and the roll 3 is fixed to an upper frame 5 through bearings. The distance between the roll 3 and the rolls 1, 2 is changed by the vertical movement of another upper frame 6 to which the roll 3 is fixed through a pin 8, and the movement is produced by a pinion 11 and a rack 10 which are driven by actuating a cylinder 9; the uniform distribution of tension in the width direction is given to the running strip S to pass it at the right position with respect to the rolling mill.

    • PURPOSE:To enable various rearranging patterns by providing respectively rails to be exclusively used to work rolls and intermediate rolls to assure space and providing a moving machanism to be commonly used. CONSTITUTION:Rolls 6, 7 are removed by a push puller 13 in the case of rearranging upper and lower work rolls 6, 7. The position of a side shifting table is then side-shifted. The engagement between the push puller 13 and upper and lower intermediate rolls 5, 8 is released, and the puller 13 is inserted into a rolling mill 1 by means of cylinders 14, 15. The puller 13 can force the fresh upper and lower work rolls 6, 7 into the mill 1 without contact with the rolls 5, 8. An oil pressure is finally applied on the hook cylinder to remove an upper work roll hook 16 and a lower work roll hook 17 from the roll 6 and the roll 7 respectively and the cylinders 14, 15 are contracted to return the puller 13 to the home position. The roll rearrangement is thus completed.

    • PURPOSE:To make zero the clearance between a roll bearing box and housing with the smaller force and to improve the life of the bearing box by interlocking the output of a clatter-eliminating cylinder which makes zero said clearance to the output of a roll bending cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A piston 16 is movably incorporated freely forward and backward into the clatter-eliminating cylinder 12 and the oil entering the cylinder through an oil forde-feed port 17 pushes the piston 16 out of a chamber 18. Then the bearing box 6 is pressed to the other housing window 2' side by right and left blocks 9, 10 and the bearing box 6 and is surely bixed in a stand. An oil feed port 14 of the roll bending cylinder 11 and the oil port 17 of the cylinder 12 are communicated with each other at a branch point 19 so that always the same pressure is exerted thereto. The force exerted to the cylinder 12 increases as well when the force exerted to the cylinder 11 increases during rolling. The same holds true of the case in which the force decreases. More specifically, there is not need for exerting more than the necessary force to the cylinder 12. The life of the bearing box 6 and the block 9 is thus extended.

    • PURPOSE:To build the roll driver for the rolling mill into a simple and reasonably strong construction, by installing the roll driving member for giving the torque of rotation to the roll so as to contact with the outer surface of the roll of the rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The output shaft of the driving motor 11 fixed to the motor base 10 set in the roll housing 1 is connected to the shaft 12 to which the sprocket 13 is fixed and the arm 14 is attached rotatably. The driving roller 16 as the roll driving member corresponding to both ends of the drum of the backup roll 2 is fixed to the shaft 15 being rotatably borne on the tip of the arm 14; and the sprocket 17 fixed to the end of the shaft 15 is connected to the sprocket 13 through the chain 18. The cylinder unit 19 is interposed between the middle of the arm 14 and the housing 1; by the action of the cylinder unit 19, the arm 14 rotates around the shaft 12, and the roller 16 is made possible to be in or out of contact with outer surface of both ends of the work roll 4.
