The position delta of the intermediate roll 12 (a distance between the side edge of rolled material and the side end of the intermediate roll 12), that is the distance of the side end of the intermediate roll 12 from the contact point between the work roll 11 and the material, is adjusted; hereby, the distribution of rolling pressure is changed, and the roll crown is also changed. Hereupon, the intermediate roll's position delta and the roll bending force are correlatively changed.

    • PURPOSE:To measure the sharpness of a steel plate or a rolling roll after painting by performing band-pass in the specified size range from the curve of the surface texture of the steel plate or the rolling roll, and measuring the slant angle on the obtained waviness curve. CONSTITUTION:When the wavelength component of the cross-sectional curve of the surface texture of a steel plate or a rolling roll in the range of 0.2-5mm, is taken out, for example, the function, wherein the straight line, an arc and the like most close to the cross-sectional curve obtained at the first measurement are specified, is obtained. The function correction or the like, which subtracts the component of the function and removes the long wavelength component, is used. When the slant angle of the waviness of the wavelength component in the range of 0.2-5mm is measured, for example, the slant angle at the point, which is separated by the specified length (the short cutting length: selected in the range of 0.2-5mm) for each point constituting the waviness curve with the point as the center, is obtained by the specified expression. Then, the absolute value of all points undergo arithmetic means, and the result is made to be the slant angle representing the measured plane. The computing method between two points and the like such as this are used.

    • PURPOSE:To detect whether welding is normal or not, by arranging plural magnetic detecting elements dispersedly along the butt part between the rear end of a preceding steep plate and the front end of a trailing steel plate. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic detecting elements for magnetic field distribution detection are arranged dispersedly along the weld zone. Namely, when they are equipped to an electrode, grooves 60 are formed in the electrode 30 on the top surface side in a comb-tooth shape; tips (on a steel plate end side) of the teeth are made deep to arrange detection coil 7 therein, intermediate parts are made shallow to run lead lines 7a of the detection coils 7 therein, and the other-end common part is made slightly deeper to allow the lead lines to run therein. A magnetic field produced by a current flowing through the steel plate during flashing and upsetting is detected to find =>1 of a flashing frequency distribution, flashing mean current distribution, flashing heat input distribution, upsetting mean current distribution, and upsetting heat input distribution from respective output voltages of the detecting elements, thereby detecting whether the welding is normal or not.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of sheet thickness, by restricting the speed of the whole stand while controlling also, as an object of speed control, the speed of bridle rolls provided to the inlet side of a tandem mill. CONSTITUTION:Unlike conventional methods, an automatic speed controlling circuit (ASC) 40 is provided to bridle rolls 10 to control the speed v0 of a sheet material at the inlet side of the No.1 stand 11. Then h1D is constantly maintained by an equation (h1E, h1D: sheet thickness at the inlet and outlet sides of the stand 11, v1: speed of the sheet at the outlet side of the stand 11) even when a rolling down force of the stand 11 varies. The thickness of a running sheet 1 is sampled by a sheet thickness detector 51 to store it in sequence in a memory 61, and the memory 61 acting as a shift register is shifted by a clock the same one for sampling. A delay equal to the time required for transferring the sheet 1 from the detector 51 to the stand 11 is given to obtain the sheet thickness h1E, which is inputted to an arithmetic device 71 to obtain the sheet thickness h1D by calculating the speed v0, v1 and v0h1E/v1. In No.2-4 stands 12-14, the same calculations are performed.

A shape detector 19 is installed between the inlet side of the device 3 and the outlet side of bridle rolls 10 located at the outlet side of a path ranging from an outlet side bridle rolls 21 of the device 1 to an inlet side bridle rolls 22 through a looper 4. A detecting signal of the detector 19 is inputted to a comparator 18, which compares it with a shape target value to control the rolling at the device 1 through a controller 20.
