    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably suppress torque fluctuation or deterioration of exhaust when combustion is switched from a spark ignition combustion mode to a compression ignition combustion mode, in a control device of an engine having a compression ignition combustion mode.
      SOLUTION: The control device performs a control of selecting a spark ignition combustion mode if an operational condition is within a spark ignition operational area 112 set by a spark ignition operational area/compression ignition operational area setting map storage means 51 in a spark ignition operational area, a control of selecting the compression ignition combustion mode, if the operational condition is within a switching stable area 111 set in the storage means 51 in operation by the spark ignition combustion mode, and a control continuing the compression ignition combustion mode as far as the operational condition is within the compression ignition operational area 110 set in the storage means 51 in operation by the compression ignition combustion mode.
