    • PURPOSE:To prevent the development of solidified shell by joining molten steel in a tundish poured through a molten steel discharging hole of an inner tube and molten steel in a mold sucked through a molten steel sucking hole of an outer tube at the inner part of the outer tube and flowing the molten metal into the molten from a discharging hole of the outer tube. CONSTITUTION:In the double tube nozzle 10, the molten steel in the tundish 1 is flowed into the inner tube 12 and the molten steel in the mold, which is out of the outer tube 11, is sucked from the molten steel sucking hole 13 with kinetic energy of the molten steel flowed through the molten steel discharging hole 15 of the inner tube 12. Jet pump action flowed into the mold toward the short wall 5 side through the molten steel discharging hole 14 of the outer tube 11 by joining with the molten steel from the inner tube 12, is generated and the forced convection is developed to the molten steel in the mold. By this method, the molten steel flowing velocity at the fixed short wall curving part can be made high and also the flowing velocity at the molten steel surface near the nozzle 10 is made high to eliminate stagnation of the molten steel. Further, the development of the solidified shells at the short wall curving part and the outer surface of the nozzle is prevented and the occurrence of breakout and the surface crack at the long wall side in the mold can be prevented.

There. fore, as the belt 3 is not brought into contact with the annular part 7a, it is not worn and as the water supplying holes 7 are dotted on the pad surface, the deformation of the belt 3 is minor.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the development of breakout, etc., caused by solidified shell developing on a short side member by setting exciting device between refractory and cooling member surrounding the refractory being the tapered short side members downward constituting both end sides of a mold. CONSTITUTION:Into the mold constituted of one pair of the cooling belts 4 and the tapered downward short side members 5 at both ends, the molten steel 2 is supplied from a tundish 1 through a nozzle 3, cooled and solidified with the cooling pads 6 supporting and cooling the cooling belts 4 to obtain the cast slab. In the above continuous casting apparatus, the short side member 5 is constituted of the refractory 9 having tapered shape downward and excellent heat insulation and cooling member 10 surrounding the refractory 9 except at least inner face of the mold. Further, the exciting device 11 of actuator, etc., composed of piezoelectric element is arranged at between the above refractory 9 and cooling member 10. By this method, the solidified shell developed on the short side member 5 is separated from the solidified shell on the cooling belt 4 and the developments of the breakout and double skin caused by crack of the solidified shell are prevented.
