    • PURPOSE:To enable hot rolling without any heating continuously cast slab by arranging part of heat insulating coating layer and part of no coating layer toward longitudinal direction of steel-made belt in twin belt type continuous casting apparatus and restraining temp. dropping of continuously cast slab drawn from the casting apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel 1 in a tundish 2 is poured in a mold formed by the steel belts 3, 4 turning endlessly through two sets of supporting rollers 6, 7 and side blocks 5, arranging at the side faces of belts and shifting at the same velocity as the belt shifting, and is cooled by cooling of the belts 3, 4 through cooling nozzles 8 at the back face of the belts 3, 4, to draw by the pinch rolls as the continuously cast slab. In this case, the mold 10 having the heat insulating coating layer 9, which is formed by spraying through plural spray nozzle 12 toward longitudinal direction of the belts 3, 4, and no coating layer in the intermediate part, is formed. Or, the mold is formed by thick and thin heat insulating coating layers and temp. drop of continuously cast slab drawing from the continuous casting apparatus is reduced, to eliminate necessity of reheating at the time of rolling in the next hot rolling process.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain a cast slab to high temp. at outlet side of a mold even if casting velocity is lowered by controlling thickness of mold releasing agent layer formed at the gap between mold wall face and solidified shell face in almost inverse proportion to the casting velocity. CONSTITUTION:The mold releasing agent layer 24 is formed by mixing the mold releasing agent 18 with N2 and Ar gas and blowing on the belt 1 by pressure of a pump 22 from a header 1 9 after atomizing it through a nozzle 20. Then, the oil in the mold releasing agent 18 is resolved into fine particles by high temp. action of the cast slab 15 and sticked to the mold wall face, and also by existence of air film corresponding to the thickness of mold releasing agent 18, the heat resistance is developed. Therefore, cooling of solidified heat in the mold having the constant cooling length at max. casting velocity is made to the standard, and according to become slower than its velocity, the thickness of the mold releasing agent is adjusted to thicker, so as to become no over-cooling of the cast slab in the mold and always cast the cast slab with high temp. Further, in case of a twin drum type continuous casting machine, the same effect is obtd.
