SOLUTION: In a main winding 10, an inside winding 10A which is wound at two-slot pitches and an outside winding 10B which is wound at four-slot pitches are wound around a curved teeth part. In an auxiliary winding 11, an inside winding 11A which is wound at two-slot pitches and an outside winding 11B which is wound at four-slot pitches are wound around the curved teeth part in such a way that the auxiliary winding 11 is deviated by an electrical angle of 90 deg. (a mechanical angle of 45 deg.) from the main winding 10. Thereby, the overlap of the coil end of the main winding 10 with the coil end of the auxiliary winding 11 is eliminated, and the length in the axial direction of a stator can be made short. At the same time, the circumferential length of the windings can be made short, and the resistance value of the windings can be reduced. The wire diameter of the windings can be made small according to the reduction portion of the resistance value of the windings, and the consumption amount of copper for the windings can be reduced.

SOLUTION: Since permanent magnets 130a and 130b are provided between the claw poles 111a, 111b, 112a, 112b of a claw pole rotor, the rotor trying to continue rotation with inertia when a vehicle speed exceeds predetermined one and rotation is not transmitted between the electric motor and the wheel, can be braked with magnetic force of the permanent magnets 130a and 130b. Consequently, strange sound or vibration is not generated even if rotation is not transmitted between the electric motor and the wheel. A big torque can be attained because a big amount of gap magnetic flux is obtained through saturation of the magnetic circuit in the claw poles 111a, 111b, 112a, 112b when the field current of the claw pole rotor is increased.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve the safety of an AC generator by preventing the temperature of the generator from rising by controlling the current generated from the generator in accordance with the temperature values detected by means of temperature detecting sensors which detect the temperature of a liquid coolant. SOLUTION: An AC generator 1 for vehicle is connected to a pulley 102 arranged on its rotating shaft and another pulley 31 arranged on the shaft of an engine 2 through a belt 32. In order to cool the generator 1, a liquid coolant pump 6 which is connected to the radiator 5 of an automobile for heat exchange through two radiator hoses 4 and circulates a liquid coolant is arranged on the outlet side of the radiator 5. In order to detect the temperature of the liquid coolant, in addition, an inlet-side liquid temperature detecting sensor 117 is provided on the inlet side of the hoses 4 and an outlet-side liquid temperature detecting sensor 118 is provided on the outlet side of the hoses 4. The values detected by means of the sensors 117 and 118 are inputted to the ECU 1000 of an engine controller and used for controlling the current generated from the generator 1. Therefore, the heating value of the generator 1 can be prevented from rising by controlling the current generated from the generator 1 upon detecting abnormality in the cooling system.
