    • PURPOSE:To stably manufacture sheets having a uniform thickness, by controlling the furnace pressure so that amorphous metals reach a prescribed thickness on the basis of the variation of molten metal head in the furnace when sheets are manufactured with rotary drum. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal 2 is charged onto a rotary drum 9 from the nozzle 3 of furnace 1 and a sheet having thickness (h) is manufactured. The thickness (h) is detected by a thickness detector 16 and the circumferential speed of drum 9 is detected by a speed detector 16. Both detected values are multiplied by an operator 17. The difference between the initial value Qo of molten metal 2 in the furnace 1 and the integral value of outflow rate Q during manufacturing is obtained by an operator 18. The head of molten metal H is obtained by dividing the metallic amount R of molten metal contained in the furnace with the effective cross sectional area of furnace 1 by a divider 19 throug using the operation results obtained by operators 17 and 18. The difference DELTAH between the head H and the initial heat value Ho is obtained by a subtractor 20, and the furnace pressure P is controlled by a furnace pressure controlling device 8 via a screw 6, arm 5 and air cylinder 4 through driving a motor 7 so that a prescribed charging amount is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To stably obtain a thin sheet of amorphous metal of uniform thickness by producing the thin sheet of amorphous metal while retreating a nozzle based on the thermal expansion of a rotary drum. CONSTITUTION:The gap up to the surface of a rotary drum 10 is measured with a gap sensor 26, and the measured signal is outputted to an operator 28, whilist the gap value up to the drum 10 before the start of production is outputted to the operator 28 by a commander 27. The difference thereof is operated by the operator 28, and this operated value corresponds to the rate delta of thermal expansion of the drum 10. This value delta is outputted to an adder 30, and a nozzle gap set value G0 is outputted from an indicator 29 as well. The value G0 and the rate delta are added in an adder 30, and a motor 25 is so controlled by way of a driving control circuit 31 that the gap coincides with the output of the adder 30. A screw 24 driven by the motor 25 revolves to vertically move a support plate 23, thereby adjusting the gap between the drum 10 and a tip nozzle 16.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the thickness accuracy of an amorphous metal sheet by detecting the thickness of the amorphous metal sheet on the surface of a rotary drum highly accurately and controlling the thickness of the sheet based on the detected value thereof. CONSTITUTION:The gap up to the surface of a sheet and up to the surface of a drum 10 are respectively measured by using the gap sensors 52, 54 disposed within the plane intersecting orthogonally with the revolving shaft 14 of the drum 10, whereby the thickness of a sheet 36 is detected with high accuracy. The control signal to a servo valve 62 is calculated in a pressure control panel 60 based on the detected values of the sheet thickness, the command value from a thickness command device 56 and the pressure detected value from the pressure detector 58 in the gas chamber 34 in a furnace 22. When the valve 62 is operated by this signal, the volume in the chamber 74 is changed by means of a hydraulic cylinder 68 and an air cylinder 72, according to which the pressure in the chamber 34 changes and by the change in the outflow rate of the molten metal from a nozzle 32, the thickness of the sheet is controlled.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the development of breakout and to relatively lower the cost by arranging the projections contacting with the curving surface of long sides in a mold to a part of a dummy bar head to obtain such a same action as the existence of large strength solidified shells at the outside of small strength solidified shell. SOLUTION: The SPCC-made projections 12 having e.g. 0.5 mm thickness, are fitted to the dummy bar head 10 so as to contact with the surfaces of the long sides in the mold. The size of the projection 12 in the width direction of a cost slab is made to almost the same size as the cast slab. In the estimation with calculation, e.g. the solidified shell thickness at 100 mm below a meniscus is about 2 mm at both stages of the initial stage of casting and in the stationary state, and it is considered that this thickness does not differ so large at both stage. However, in the initial stage of casting, the drawing resistance is large, because the lubrication with powder is insufficient, and it is considered that the strength of the solidified shell is smaller than or the same degree as the drawing resistance. In the case of using the dummy bar head with the projections, since such a same action is obtd. as thickening the solidified shells at the long sides in the mold at the initial stage of casting, the development of the breakout is reduced.
