    • PURPOSE:To detect the defect in a painted film nondestructively and readily, by periodically emitting light to the painted film, and detecting elastic waves generated on the film. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from a xenon lamp 24 is intermittently projected on a measuring cell 16 by way of a condenser lens 12, an interference filter 26, and a light chopper 28. Elastic waves generated by the expansion and contraction of a painted film are detected by a microphone 34 and inputted to a lock in amplifier 20. The input signal from the microphone 34 is turned with the signal from a photocoupler 36, which is synchronized with the light chopper 28, and amplified by the amplifier 20. The result is displayed on a recorder 22. Thus the defects in the painted film are readily detected nondestructively.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a stress, corrosion and crack from generation, with the oxidizing agent kept in a low concentration state, by monitoring the oxidizing agent concentration in the pile water, when in a transient operation of the nuclear reactor, and if said monitored concentration exceeds the reference value, by pouring a hydrazine into the pile water. CONSTITUTION:For an electrode system, that detects a concentration of solved residual oxygen and hydrogen peroxide in a pile water 10, of the pile monitor system 12, are used a sensitive SUS304 stainless steel electrode and a silver/silver choloride electrode, and when increased a concentration in the pile water 10 of the oxidizing agent, that is, the residual oxygen and the hydrogen peroxide, a natural potential of the above described stainless steel electrode becomes high, therefore, applying this fact, a detection is firstly made for whether a concentration of the oxidizing agent exceeds the reference value or not. On the other hand, in a control system 16, with said reference value stored in memory as a natural potential ET of the above described stainless steel at each temperature, when a monitored potential exceeds the above said value, a hydrazine injection system 14 is operated to pour the hydrazine into the pile water 10 lowering its oxidizing agent concentration.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a lubricating oil for a rotary compressor of a refrigerator consisting mainly of a specified diol, in which Freon solvent is difficultly soluble and which increases the efficiency of the compressor and reduces power consumption.
      CONSTITUTION: The lubricating oil for a rotary compressor contains as main component a diol of the formula (where R is H or methyl; n is 1 or higher). The diols are, e.g., diethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol and polyethylene glycol. These diols show a higher efficiency than conventional naphthenic and paraffinic mineral oils, for they have a low viscosity and Freon freezing medium (e.g. dichlorodifluoromethane) is difficult to dissolve in them.
