    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed container 2 arranged so that an internal space can be airtightly sealed even by adhesion between a glass member 4a and a metal member 5a.SOLUTION: The sealed container comprises: a glass member 4a; a metal member 5a; and a transition metal oxide glass 3 which becomes fused to both of them. The transition metal oxide glass 3 is an n-type semiconductor. The sealed container is formed by bonding the glass member 4a and the metal member 5a to each other through the transition metal oxide glass 3. The transition metal oxide glass 3 has transition metal ions taking different valences; the number of the high-valence transition metal ions is larger than that of the low-valence transition metal ions. The transition metal oxide glass 3 contains vanadium, at least one of tellurium and phosphorus, and at least one of silver, iron, tungsten, copper, alkali metal, and alkali-earth metal. The transition metal oxide glass 3 contains vanadium oxide, tellurium oxide, phosphorus oxide and iron oxide; the sum of their mass to the mass of the transition metal oxide glass is 75 mass% or larger.
