    • PURPOSE:To easily obtain the arbitrary thickness profile of finish films by subjecting the working pressure distribution in the radial direction of media to feedback control. CONSTITUTION:A pressurizing head is constituted of a roller section 3 which is wound with plural pieces of hollow rubber rollers 3 having hollow chambers 7 on mandrels 6 and connected with fluid supply holes 8 for supplying fluid to the hollow chambers 7, a holder 9 which holds the rollers 3 and micrometers 4 which micrometrically adjust the inclination of the magnetic disk medium 1 and the rollers 3. The arbitrary working pressures are easily obtd. in the respective radial positions of the medium 1 when the working pressures P1, P2,...Pn in the respective hollow chambers 7 are changed. The working pressure distribution is determined by inputting the thickness profile of the coated film thicknesses and the result of the measurement is fed back to a calculation section in spite of the generation of a fluctuation in the thickness of the coated films so that the adjustment of the working pressures is automatically executed. The fluctuation in the thickness of the coated films is thereby suppressed.

    • PURPOSE:To enable a device to efficiently perform polishing using polishing tapes of large width, by providing a means, which pressurizes a back surface of the polishing tape with desired distribution, and performing the polishing to be controlled so that its speed obtains a desired value. CONSTITUTION:Polishing tapes 2, 12, wound by winding mechanisms 5, 15, are arranged on a picture of a magnetic disc 1, which is a work, further held by pressurizing parts 3, 13. These pressurizing parts 3, 13, providing two rows of three throttle holes 32 to be drilled over the magnetic disc 1 from its internal peripheral p[arts Ri to peripheral part Ro, form a pressurizing chamber 31 on a surface brought into contact with the polishing tapes 2, 12 in the bottom end of said holes, and a polishing device, which respectively introduces fluid pressures P1-P6 suitably set by a pressurizing force regulating system 4, uniformly presses the polishing tapes 2, 12 to the magnetic tape 1. Under this condition, the device, rotating the magnetic disc 1 in a desired rotary speed, performs polishing. In this way, a surface of optional shape of the work can be efficiently further high accurately polished by using the polishing tape of large width.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain the titled lightweight substrate for a magnetic disk while keeping high rigidity by mixing a whisker into an aluminum alloy.
      CONSTITUTION: Although an aluminum alloy sheet is widely used as the substrate for a magnetic disk, a coarse intermetallic compd. is formed between aluminum and an impurity element Fe which is contained in the sheet in a small amt., and the compd. is the prime cause of a bit error when the substrate is used for a magnetic disk. When the content of the impurity element Fe is reduced in high-purity aluminum, the mechanical strength is decreased. When a silicon carbide whisker 3 having 0.01W0.3μm diameter is mixed into a high- purity aluminum alloy 2 contg. ≤0.01% impurity element Fe and which is used as a substrate 1 for a magnetic disk, the tensile strength is increased as the volume ratio of the whisker is increased. Accordingly, even when the substrate 1 for a magnetic disk is thinned and made lightweight, high rigidity can be maintained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damages of a magnetic head and a magnetic disk by removing dust adhered from a recording/reproduction area on the surface of the magnetic disk to an outer area in a magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: Suspension to support the magnetic head is provided with the magnetic head to perform a normal recording/reproducing operation and a cleaning head for the purpose of removal of the dust and the magnetic head temporarily stops in time at least over one rotation in the vicinity of inner and outer peripherals of the recording/reproduction area on the magnetic disk or performs a seek operation before the magnetic head to complete the normal recording/reproducing operation is retreated on a magnetic head holding member from the surface of the magnetic disk. In this case, the cleaning head is placed in an area outer than the recording/reproduction area on the magnetic disk and thoroughly removes the dust adhered on the magnetic disk surface.
