    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a mobile unit has not been able to communicate without being directly connected to a fixed station.
      SOLUTION: Each mobile unit is given a relay function so that a mobile unit 7 outside the service area of a fixed station 3 can be connected to or communicate with the fixed station 3. The mobile unit 7 is connected to the fixed station 3 via a mobile unit 6 in a communication area 11 and a mobile unit 5 in the communication area of the mobile unit 6. Because of this configuration, the mobile unit can communicate even if it is outside an area where it can be connected to a fixed station.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to offer charge informing sevices even if a switching network can not discriminate a subscriber's number of a terminal, by allowing the switching network to send charge information to the terminal by a charge information request from the terminal prior to call cutting-off operation. CONSTITUTION:When a connection line between non-packet terminal 1 and a packet terminal is set, packet exchange unit 5 allots one charge information memory area in main memory unit 15 to a call connection. Once data transfer starts between terminals 1 and 6, exchange 5 collects charge information on the number of transmitted and received packets and stores it in the charge information area. After the data transfer, terminal 1 sends a charge information request. On receiving the request, packet multiplexer 4 edits cutting-off request packets including the charge information request and sends it to exchange unit 5. On receiving this request, exchange unit 5 takes charge information out and then sends it to unit 4. Unit 4 sends the charge information, character by character, to terminal 1.

When the connection is desired, the terminal device B dials a corresponding message number. The VSE receiving this number uses a conversion table to retrieve a caller number, which is superimposed on an automatic calling address signal (d) and transmits the result to an exchange. The exchange sets a line connecting a caller terminal device A1 to the terminal device B to call the terminal A1 and when a response is received, the talking with the terminal device B is attained.
