    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate performance of a magnetic disk drive by utilizing changes in a writing time and a writing speed of data due to crosstalk.SOLUTION: A magnetic disk drive includes a writing control section (10) for suspending data writing according to a change due to crosstalk at the time of data writing, and a crosstalk evaluation section (12). The crosstalk evaluation section (12) measures a writing speed of a data pattern and evaluates whether the data writing is influenced by crosstalk on the basis of the writing speed. The crosstalk evaluation section writes a first data pattern having less noise in a specific area of a magnetic disk to measure the writing speed or a writing time of the first data pattern, then writes a second data pattern having more noise in the specific area of the magnetic disk to measure the writing speed or the writing time of the second data pattern. The crosstalk evaluation section then evaluates whether there is crosstalk by comparing the writing speeds or writing times of the first and second data patterns.
