    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a RAID controller which migrates only a data area being accessed by a head which has detected abnormalities to a spare disk, if the abnormalities are resulting from a specific head, and to provide a RAID device.
      SOLUTION: The RAID controller acquires in advance and manages disk information on areas to which each head of mounting heads of a hard disk accesses. At operation time and when a read error or a write error occurs, the target head is specified based on the logical block where the error has occurred. When read errors or write errors depending on a specific head occur multiple times, only the stored data of the area to which the head concerned accesses are migrated to the other hard disk. Starting from data migration point, a hard disk of head fault and the other hard disk of data migration destination are operated as a hard disk constituting the same RAID.
