    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber holder capable of easily performing single-batch fusion connection by quickly aligning a plurality of single-core coated optical fibers and holding the aligned state, and to provide a single-batch fusion connection method that uses the same. SOLUTION: The optical fiber holder which holds the plurality of single-core coated optical fibers, by arranging them in parallel, is provided with a base stand 1 having an optical fiber alignment groove 5; and a coated optical fiber aligning cover 2, having a pressing member 6 which is openably arranged above the optical fiber alignment groove 5 and presses the coated optical fibers, wherein the optical fiber alignment groove 5 has such a shape as to gradually narrow the width of the top end side, and the pressing member 6 has the shape provided with such a level difference that a gap with the optical fiber alignment groove 5 becomes smaller on the top-end side. In addition, the optical fiber holder can be made into a constitution, having a coated optical fiber fixing member 8 or an adhesive tape, in order to align and hold the plurality of coated optical fibers.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate fusion splicing of a plurality of coated optical fibers, having a coating outer diameter thicker than ϕ0.25 mm, by means of conventional fusion splicing apparatuses for optical fibers. SOLUTION: Multiple optical fibers are abutted against each other where a plurality of core fibers 3A of the optical fibers are arrayed in parallel, wherein the optical fibers having a 1st coating layer (1st coating) with a 1st coating outer diameter (1st diameter) are lead out into bare optical fibers 5, with the 1st coating being removed at the tip ends. Thereafter, using the optical fiber fusion splicing apparatus for batch-connecting the tip ends of the bare optical fibers 5, the plurality of core fibers 3 of the optical fibers are batch-connected, having the 2nd coating layer (2nd coating) with the 2nd coating outer diameter (2nd diameter) larger than the first coating with the 1st diameter. Here, the diameter at the tip end of each core fiber 3 of the optical fibers having the 2nd coating with the 2nd diameter is reduced to the 1st coating, by removing the coating from the 2nd diameter to the 1st; and furthermore, the tip end of this 1st coating is removed to lead out into the bare optical fiber 5, and then the optical fibers are fusion-spliced.
