    • PURPOSE:To improve an intrinsic sensitivity or a spectrosensitivity of the title emulsion by incorporating a spectrosensitized coloring matter to the title emulsion before the silver halide (AgX) particles are formed, thereby forming a specific crystal phase on surfaces of AgX particles. CONSTITUTION:The ratio of the 100 surface of the surface of the AgX particles is raised by incorporating the spectrosensitized coloring matter to the title emulsion before the formation of the particle is completed under the condition of forming the AgX particles mainly composed of the 111 surface thereof. The spectrosensitized coloring matter may be added to the title emulsion at an optional period depending to the kinds of the spectrosensitized coloring matter. The method of adding the coloring matter may be a whole addition in the formation of the AgX particles or the continuous or the partition addition until the formation of the AgX particles completes. The coloring matter comprises for example, a methine dye. The AgX emulsion is not specified, but comprises silver bromide and silver iodide bromide. The particle distribution may be a monodisperse system or a polydisperse system. By adding the spectrosensitized coloring matter to be the title emulsion. The AgX emulsion having the much 111 surface ratio is obtd., thereby raising the intrinsic sensitivity or the spectrosensitivity of the title emulsion.

      CONSTITUTION: A water-insoluble photographic spectral sensitizer is added without using any org. solvent before finishing formation of silver halide grains to execute spectral sensitization treatment. As said dye, cyanine dyes, merocyanine dyes, and any other dyes may be used. They are used as a dispersion dispersed into an aq. medium. by mechanically pulverizing them or using a surfactant. The addition of such an aq. medium dispersion of a water-insoluble sensitizing dye before finishing formation of the silver halide grains permits increase of sensitivity and stability against time lapse, prevention of desorption of the dye and coloring due to the residual dye, improvement with respect to changes, etc., of light absorption characteristics, nd further, increase of development speed, and enhancement of reciprocity law characteristics, etc.
