CONSTITUTION: Since the volume of traffic is large between exchange modules 1 and 2 and between exchange modules 2 and 4, direct communication paths are provided. Between the modules 1 and 4, on the other hand, no direct communication path is provided, but the communication paths between the module 1 and an exchange module 3 for tandem connection and between the modules 3 and 4 are used for communication, because the volume of traffic is not large. Since no communication path is set between exchange modules between which the traffic is not heavy, the number of lines set in a junctor 5 can be reduced.

摘要： PURPOSE:To accommodate subscribers at a remote location efficiently through the connection of coarse coupling having aN error control function. CONSTITUTION:A subscriber termination module (SLM) 1 has no major exchange function but has only a function of controlling and concentrating plural subscriber lines only, and each SLM 1 of remote stations 4-1 to 4-4 is connected to a line processing module (CHM) 2 in a center station 5 or a remote station 4-3 through an inter-module outside line 6 being a coarse coupling connection means having an error control function. Each CHM 2 of the stations4-2, 4-3 or the station 5 accommodates the SLM 1 in the inside of the station and the SLM 1 at a remote location to make mutual exchange connection and the CHMs are in exchange connection mutually and via another optional CHM 2 and an inter-module coupling device(IMC) 3. Thus, the CHM 2 and the IMC 3 are connected by the line 6 being a coarse coupling connection means having an error control function. Thus, subscribers at a remote location are accommodated efficiently.

When an ATM frame is simultaneously inputted from the plural input terminals 1-N, a connection pattern assigning each input terminal to all output terminals without duplication is generated and the connection pattern is revised periodically. The ATM frame is sent to the distribution switching network 10 controlled by the control circuit 40. Thus, the deviation in the traffic characteristic of the ATM frame is eliminated.
