    • PURPOSE:To clean a storage medium without deteriorating a throughput by transferring a cartridge from a control container to a medium cleaner by a conveying mechanism, and transferring the cartridge from the cleaner to the control container by the conveying mechanism after cleaning the storage medium. CONSTITUTION:A controller 12 judges whether the rotation of either a cell drum 3 or 4 is necessary for the fetch of the cartridge to be cleaned. Then, the cell drum 3 or 4 is rotated in a timing in which the drum is capable of being rotated when the rotation of the cell drum is necessary. Moreover, the device 12 fetches the cartridge by driving a waiting accessor 5, and transfers this to a medium cleaner 9. The cleaner 9 rotates an information storing medium in the cartridge, wipes the face of the medium with a cloth, and remove stuck dust or the like in order to clean the medium. After the completion of the cleaning, the device 12 stores the information of the completion of the cleaning in a storage circuit corresponding to the cartridge, rotates either the drum 3 or 4, drives the waiting accessor 5, transfers the cartridge from the device 9 back to a storing rack, and stores it. Thus, the cleaning of the information storing medium is executed without deteriorating the throughstop concerning the recording or reproduction of the information.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce size and cost by allowing saw tooth wave magnetizations having the repetitive period longer than the half-amplitude level of Lorentz-shape isolated waveforms to remain with the polarities inverted at every track and obtaining the detection signal for the information on position from the difference between the peak values of the signals obtd. by reading out the magnetizations. CONSTITUTION:The Lorentz-shape isolated waveforms having positive and negative peak levels are read out from the positive and negative parts of the steep slopes of the respective magnetizations when the saw tooth wave magnetizations with the polarities inverted at every track are allowed to remain and are read by a magnetic head. The repetitive period of the saw tooth wave magnetizations is set longer than the half-amplitude level of the Lorentz-shape isolated waveforms. The signal waveforms from both tracks read out of the magnetic head are held in a peak holding circuit 7 when the magnetic head moves in the track pitch direction. The difference between both peak values is then outputted therefrom. The signal is supplied to a control circuit and the position of the magnetic head is so controlled that the position detection signal is made zero. The magnetic head is thus exactly positioned to the intermediate position between the odd-numbered track and even-numbered track.

    • PURPOSE:To previously predict the destruction of data due to the contact of a head and a medium and or the damage of an equipment by mounting a pressure sensing element on a floating head and monitoring a signal emitted by the element during the operation of a system. CONSTITUTION:When a power source is charged, a head slider is floated according to the rotation of the medium to bring a state for writing and reading data on a recording track, an operation for monitoring a statistic contact between the head and the medium is started. When the statistic contact between the head slider and the medium is generated, pressure sensors 11, 12,...1N generating the contact generate a voltage signal and input to counter circuits 31, 32,...3N. When the number of contact bits is counted and any counter circuit overflows, a gate 51 is opened to inform to an input and output interface control circuit 61 and the contents of the counter circuit are turned out to a buffer storage device 50. In a host processor 70, a command for reading the contents of the device 50 is prepared and a magnetic disk storage device sequentially reads the contents of the device 50 and outputs to the processor 70. Based on an output result, an operator can instruct to take a required processing.
