    • PURPOSE:To facilitate on-track control over all cylinders by generating a head position signal from a signal corresponding to a phase difference between a reference clock and a servo data. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk 21 is provided with a training area recorded with a timing signal in front of a servo area recorded with servo information in the rotating direction. Then, the reference clock synchronized in phase with the timing signal read out by a head 23 is generated by a PLL circuit 44. Now, a signal corresponding to a phase difference between the reference clock and the servo data in the servo area is outputted by a phase difference detecting circuit 47. The position signal for showing a position of the head is generated by an A/D converter 34 via an integration circuit 48 from the signal corresponding to the phase difference from the circuit 47. Then, since the reference clock and a servo pattern are synchronized with each other, the phase difference is detected with good accuracy, and because of integration, a mean value of the phase differences is easily evaluated, so that the position detecting accuracy can be enhanced. Thus, the on-track control can easily be performed over all the cylinders.

    • PURPOSE:To measure an accurate off-track amt. by constituting a gate means with a demodulated signal comparing means having a hysteresis characteristic for preventing erroneous detection due to noise to be superimposed in the vicinity of a zero level of a demodulated signal. CONSTITUTION:The subject circuit is provided with the gate means for comparing demodulated two kinds of servo signals with each other in signal level and producing a gate signal, and the gate means is constituted out of the demodulated signal comparing means having a hysteresis characteristic for preventing erroneous detection due to noise to be superimposed in the vicinity of zero level of the demodulated signal. That is, the off-track amt. measuring circuit consists of a gain control part 21, a rectifying device means 22, a capacitor 23 constituting a peak hold circuit together with a rectifying means, a comparator 24 and a differential amplifier 26, and a resistor 25 for positive feedback is provided between an input line and an output line of the comparator 24. By this method, the correct off-track amt. can be measured without being influence by noise of the measuring circuit.

    • PURPOSE:To improve positioning tracing accuracy by controlling a driving part so as to be switched to an A-grade action after the operation of a B-grade action with a servo control part when a servo motor is servo-controlled to an aimed value. CONSTITUTION:A servo control part CT controls a driving part 6' so as to be switched to the A-grade action after an operation by the B-grade action. In a servo control process, the part 6' is switched to the B-grade action at a time point necessary for a large power, and to the A-grade action when the small power is sufficient. The A-grade action is not fit for the large power as well known, whereas, it does not generate crossover deviation, and promptly responds to the minute current displacement. On the other hand, for the positioning control, it initially drives the servo motor at high speed by a maxi mum current, and minutely controls the motor near the aimed position by the small current. Consequently, by driving the part 6' by the B-grade action, and then switching to the A-grade action near the aimed position, both the high- speed driving and high position tracing accuracy can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To set quickly and accurately a record/reproduction head to a target track position by increasing the output gain of an operational amplifier part up to a prescribed level by an output gain changing means after detecting that a detection means reaches its prescribed position. CONSTITUTION:A difference counter 13 delivers a prescribed signal (6) to a shift distance signal (5) (applied by the counter value) from a target track set previously at a time point when the count value is subtracted at a point precedingly by half the target track. While an electronic switch 14 releases the short state of a register R2 whose contact is opened in case a normal contact is shorted and the signal (6) is sent from the counter 13. Then the output gain of an operational amplifier 4 is increased at a point precedingly by half the desired track, and the deceleration of a servo motor 6 is promoted temporarily. In such a way, the output gain of the amplifier 4 is increased at a point immediately before the target track. Thus a record/reproduction head can be set quickly at the target track without increasing substantially the load of a mechanical system.
