CONSTITUTION:The receiver is provided with a light receiving means 21 supplied with a current with a level in response to a level of a reception signal given as an optical signal, a reception signal extract means 22 connecting to one terminal of the light receiving means 21 and extracting the reception signal based on a current flowing to the light receiving means 21, an error voltage detection means 23 detecting an error voltage indicating a difference between a DC voltage at one terminal of the light receiving means 21 and a DC voltage at the other terminal, and a voltage control means 24 controlling the voltage at the other terminal of the light receiving means 21 so as to make the error voltage zero based on the error voltage detected by the error voltage detection means 23. Then, the error voltage detection means 23 detects a difference between DC voltages across the light receiving means 21 and the voltage at the other terminal of the light receiving means 21 is controlled so as to make the error voltage zero based on the detected output.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify whether reflected light detected in a system is caused by disconnection of an optical connector or SBS and then control the system according to the result of identification.
      SOLUTION: An optical transmission apparatus obtains frequency components obtained by removing basic low-frequency waves from return superimposed light which returns from the optical connector on the output side. When the frequency components indicating a low frequency level are obtained at each frequency band, the apparatus identifies the return light which returns from the optical connector on the output side as Fresnel light caused by disconnection of the optical connector. Also, when the frequency components indicating a high frequency level are obtained at frequency bands smaller than the basic low-frequency waves, the frequency components are integrated and the amplitude of frequency component is detected. When the amplitude exceeds the threshold value, the apparatus identifies the return light which returns from the optical connector on the output side as Stokes light caused by stimulated Brillouin scattering.

    • PURPOSE:To vary both rise and fall delay times of an input pulse with a small- scale circuit by supplying an integrated output pulse to a comparator which can give the hysteresis variation to the fall and rise threshold levels. CONSTITUTION:An inverted input pulse is supplied to an integration circuit, and an integrated output pulse is supplied to a comparator 6 which can give the hysteresis variation to the fall and rise threshold levels. Then the output pulse of the comparator 6 is delivered. The input pulse is inverted by an inverting circuit 5 into a pulse of B. This pulse is integrated by an integration circuit consisting of a resistance R3 and a capacitor C3, and the output has a slow fall in a fall mode and then a sudden rise in a rise mode as shown by C. The rise time tau4 and the fall time tau5 can be varied by changing the R3 and the C3 of the integration circuit to have a change of both fall and rise of C and also changing the resistance value of resistances R4-R5 respectively to change the threshold level.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a malfunction in power supply voltage initiation by cutting off transfer of a signal which is output during unstable operation of a preamplifier when a specified voltage is not reached.
      SOLUTION: A photoreceptor 11 converts a received optical signal into a current signal. A preamplifier 12 converts the current signal into a voltage signal and amplifies it. A voltage monitoring section 13 monitors whether or not a power supply voltage of an apparatus reaches a specified voltage, at which the preamplifier 12 starts normal operation, and outputs a control signal that is a monitored result. When a control signal is received which indicates that the power supply voltage does not exceed the specified voltage, a switch section 14 cuts off the output signal of the preamplifier 12; and when a control signal is received which indicates that the power supply voltage exceeds the specified voltage, the switch section 14 passes the output signal of the preamplifier 12 to a post-stage.
