In this reaction, the reducing agent is converted into an oxidized product, and it reacts with a diffusion-resistant 2-equiv. coupler, such as formulaeI, II, or III, and a diffusibl dye image is formed just on the silver image on the exposed areas. This dye image is diffused and transferred to an image receiving layer, and separated from the silver image, and the residual unreacted silver halide, reducing agent, and coupler.
