摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a support for a recording material, which is suitable for various kinds of recording materials such as photographic paper, electrophotographic image receiving paper, thermosensitive recording paper, ink-jet recording paper, etc., has excellent surface smoothness, glossiness and water-resistant strength and provides an excellent image when provided with an image-forming layer such as a colorant image receiving layer, etc.
SOLUTION: The support for a recording material is obtained by adding 5-25 mass % of calcium carbonate to a pulp slurry, making the slurry into paper to give base paper, coating at least one surface of the base paper with a coating solution comprising pigment containing at least calcium carbonate and a binder containing ≥5 wt.% of water-dispersible latex based on the pigment, calendering the coated base paper and covering the surface coated with the coating solution with a polyolefin resin.

An electrophotographic image receiving sheet is obtained by subjecting the surface of the base paper on the toner image receiving layer side to a soft calendering treatment in such a manner that a metallic roll of a surface temperature of ≥150°C comes into contact with this surface, regulating the glass transfer temperature (Tg) of a thermoplastic resin constituting the toner image receiving layer to ≥-50°C, and subjecting the surface of the toner image receiving layer to the soft calendering treatment in such a manner that the metallic roll having the surface temperature below the glass transfer temperature (Tg)+50°C comes into contact with the surface of the toner image receiving layer. The thermoplastic resin layer is formed by melt extrusion and also contains a fluorescent brightener and white pigment. In the thermal recording material, the fluorescent brightener desirably is a compound shown by a formula (wherein, R1 , R2 , R3 and R4 respectively show hydrogen atom or substituent group or substituted atom).
