CONSTITUTION:A heat-developable color photosensitive material contg. flat platelike photosensitive silver halide, a binder and a dye providing substance which has power of reducing the silver halide and releases a hydrophilic diffusible dye by a reaction with the silver halide under heating on a support is used. The diameter of the particles of the silver halide is >=5 times the thickness. The dye providing substance used in this invention is represented by a general formula Ra-SO2-D, wherein Ra is a reducing moiety oxidizable with silver halide, and D is an image forming dye moiety having a hydrophilic group. For example, a compound represented by formula I or II is used as the dye providing substance. When the photosensitive material is heated to >=80 deg.C, the dye providing substance reduces the silver halide or the silver halide and an org. silver salt oxidizing agent using nuclei of a latent image as a catalyst to form silver, and the dye providing substance itself is oxidized to release the dye.
