    • PURPOSE:To obtain the photographic characteristic having a hyper high contrast of the title material by incorporating a hydrazine derivative in the emulsion layer or the hydrophilic colloid layer contg. in the photosensitive material, and an alkali metal iodide in the rear side layer of a supporting body, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The alkali metal iodide is incorporated in the rear side layer of the supporting body of the silver halide photosensitive material which contains the hydrazine derivativein the silver halide emulsion layer or an another hydrophilic colloid layer existing in the same side of the silver halide emulsion layer. The compounding amount of the alkali metal iodide such as potassium iodide is preferably 0.01-1.0g per 1m of the photosensitive material. The hydrazine derivative is preferably a compd. shown by formula I. Thus, the photographic characteristic having the hyper high contrast of the photosensitive material is obtd. In formula I, R1 is an aliphatic or an aromatic group, R2 is hydrogen atom or alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy or aryloxy group which may be substd., G is carbonyl, sulfoxy, phosphoryl or N-substd. or unsubstd. iminomethylene group.

    • PURPOSE:To increase effective reducing width and to prevent the generation of residue by processing the silver image obtd. by exposing and developing of a silver halide photosensitive material with a ceric salt reducer. CONSTITUTION:The silver image formed by exposing and developing the silver halide photosensitive material is reduced by using the reducer consisting essentially of the ceric salt. Such reducing is executed in the presence of the compd. expressed by formula I (M is H, alkali metallic atom, -NH4, R is H, alkyl, SO3M , COOM , R is -SO3M , -COOM , -OH where M is synonymous with M, n is 1-6) or the formula IIA-(CH2)n-SM (M is the group of formula III, R is H, alkyl, etc. A is -OH, -SO3M , -NR3R4, M is H or alkaline metallic atom, X is halogen atom, etc., n is 2-5). The above-mentioned compd. may be incorporated into the reducer or be made present in the previous bath prior to the reducing process. The area of the silver image is thus decreased while the decrease in the density of the silver image is suppressed.

      -5 mol per 1mol silver and having a higher AgI content in the surface layers of particles than the average AgI content in particles. The compound is incorporated into other hydrophilic colloidal layer. The resulting negative type photosensitive AgX material is imagewise exposed and processed with a developer of 9.5W12.3pH contg. ≥0.15mol/l sulfite ions. A very contrasty negative image having superior photographic characteristics such as high sensitivity and few black spots can be formed by combining the AgX emulsion with the compound and using a stable developer contg. sulfite ions as a preservative. Even when the photosensitive AgX material is stored at high temp. and humidity, deterioration in the photographic characteristics such as reduction in the sensitivity and gamma is not caused.

    • PURPOSE: To improve the reducibility of a photosensitive silver halide material for a photomechanical process without increasing the amount of silver coated by making the dissolution time of the nonphotosensitive upper layer longer than that of the photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer, and incorporating starch or a specified polysaccharide into the emulsion.
      CONSTITUTION: The degree of reduction in the area of dots before and after processing in a photomechanical process is expressed by the width of reduction, and the reducibility of a photosensitive silver halide material is improved in accordance with increase in the width of reduction. In order to improve the reducibility, the nonphotosensitive upper layer on the silver halide emulsion layer is hardened to a higher degree than the emulsion layer to make the dissolution time of the upper layer in 0.2N NaOH soln. at 75°C longer than that of the emulsion layer by ≥50sec. Starch, hydrolyzed starch, modified starch such as a starch deriv. or a polysaccharide such as dextran prepd. by the microbiological fermentation of starch is incorporated into the emulsion layer. Thus, a photosensitive material for a photomechanical process reducible in a moderate time and capable of increasing the width of reduction is obtd.
