    • PURPOSE: To reduce the fog of a photosensitive silver halide emulsion, to increase the sensitivity, to prevent color stain and to prolong the safe life by incorporating a prescribed amount of silver iodide into silver halide particles and adding a specified sensitizing dye.
      CONSTITUTION: Silver iodide is incorporated into silver halide particles by 0.5W10 mol% so that it is locally present in the particles at ≥20% concn. The resulting photosensitive material has absorption wavelengths in a favorable region, influence is hardly exerted on the photographic sensitivities of the constituent layers other than the green-sensitive layer, and fog and stain are not caused.

These sensitizing dyes are dissolved in an org. solvent soluble in water, such as methanol or ethanol to add them to the silver halide photographic emulsion. They are added by 15-200mg per mol of silver halide.
