    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the image quality of a radiographic silver halide film with which a medical diagnostic image of soft tissue such as mammography can be obtained and dye stains are reduced. SOLUTION: The radiographic silver halide film useful for mammography has a cubic grain silver halide emulsion on one side of the support. The cubic grains are spectrally sensitized with a combination of first and second spectral sensitizing dyes that provide a combined maximum J-aggregate absorption of from 540 to 560 nm. The first spectral sensitizing dye is an anionic benzimidazole-benzoxazole carbocyanine and the second spectral sensitizing dye is an anionic oxycarbocyanine. The first and second spectral sensitizing dyes are present in a molar ratio of from 0.25:1 to 4:1. By reducing dye stains while enhancing contrast, a means to form a radiographic image for mammography exhibiting improved image quality is obtained. In addition, all of other desirable sensitometric properties are retained, and the radiographic film can rapidly be processed using the conventional processing apparatus and processing composition.
