    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent display device capable of protecting components from ultraviolet radiation from a light source of a surface light source device and stabilizing display quality for a long period. SOLUTION: The transparent display device 1 comprises a liquid crystal display unit 2 and a surface light source unit 3. The surface light source unit includes a tubular light source 4, light guiding member 5, a light diffusion film 7 with ultraviolet absorption capability, and a prism sheet 8. The light diffusion film 7 absorbs ultraviolet radiation from a light source (fluorescent tube) of a surface light source device (back light) to protect the diffusion sheet 7, the prism sheet 8 and liquid crystal display cells from being deteriorated. The light diffusion film may be constituted by a light diffusion layer constituted by a plurality of resins each having a different angle of refraction and a transparent resin film laminated on the light diffusion layer, wherein at least the transparent resin film includes a ultraviolet absorption material.
