    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-resolution code disk for encoder that can detect absolute positions, a method of manufacturing a metallic mold used for producing the code disk, and so on.
      SOLUTION: The code disk for encoder formed by using a transparent substrate is provided with a plurality of tracks formed on the transparent substrate and having different patterns on their surfaces and inter-track areas provided among the tracks and having different heights from those of the surfaces of the tracks. The method of manufacturing the metallic mold used for producing the code disk includes a step of forming tracks having flat surfaces on a first material, a step of forming inter-track areas having different heights from those of the flat surfaces of the tracks among the tracks, and a step of forming different patterns on the flat surfaces of the tracks. The method also includes a step of plating the patterns of the first material, and a step of obtaining the metallic mold by removing the plated layer from the first material.

Therein, the quantity of light from the permeation region and quantity of light from the light-shielding track are detected; the quantity of light from the permeation region and the quantity of light from the light-shielding track are compared; and then the changes in the temperature for the ratio of the light entering the V-style section and passing through it is determined. Then, quantity of light from the signal track is detected, and the position of the optical scale is detected by compensating the quantity of the light from the signal track, based on the ratio of the light entering to the light passing through the V-style section passes.
