SOLUTION: In this electric brake device 10, a digital converter 14 converts the depression force of a brake pedal 12 into an electric signal, and a controller 2 increases the torque of a driving motor 16 in accordance with the increase of the depression force on the basis of the electric signal to increase the vehicle braking force in accordance with the increase of the depression force. Here, a voltage switching device 24 is operated to reduce the fluctuation of the torque to the fluctuation of the depression force in an area of low depression force, whereby the fluctuation of the vehicle braking force to the fluctuation of the depression force can be reduced in the area of low depression force. That is, in the area of low depression force, the delicate difference of the depression force brings the delicate difference in the vehicle braking force, so that the braking of the vehicle can be finely executed in ordinary braking, and the braking feeling can be improved. As this device dispenses with a digital converter of high accuracy used in a conventional device, the cost can be reduced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a malfunction in a hydraulic braking system 100 that includes a hydraulic adjusting device 120 having a pilot pressure-dependent pressure adjusting function for adjusting a hydraulic fluid to a pressure corresponding to a pilot pressure that is the fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid of a braking device 116.SOLUTION: A failure diagnosing part 482 of a brake ECU 48 provided with the hydraulic braking system includes: stopping supply of power to a hydraulic pressure adjusting device while the hydraulic fluid of a set pressure is confined in the braking device 116; adjusting the pressure of the hydraulic fluid with the hydraulic adjusting device by using the pressure of the confined hydraulic fluid as the pilot pressure; and diagnosing the pilot pressure-dependent pressure adjusting function on the basis of the hydraulic pressure of the pressure-adjusted hydraulic fluid. Thus, the hydraulic braking system detects a malfunction of the pilot pressure-dependent pressure adjusting function even when power to the hydraulic adjusting device is not cut off.

When a failure of the first regulator 214 and the second regulator 224 is estimated, the first control part 216 and the second control part 226 cause the first regulator to output a predetermined first current pattern, and causes the second regulator 224 to output a predetermined second current pattern which is different from the first current pattern. Then, on the basis of the current pattern detected by the first current monitor 215 and the second current monitor 225, the faulty regulator is determined.
