    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of crosstalk in a display device performing three-dimensional display.SOLUTION: A display device is provided with means for detecting positional information of a viewer, and forms a parallax barrier on the basis of the positional information. Specifically, the display device includes: a display panel configured to perform display with the use of a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix; a shutter panel configured to form the parallax barrier by controlling a voltage applied to liquid crystal in accordance with a signal input to each of a plurality of light-transmitting electrodes arranged in a stripe; and positional information detecting means configured to detect positional information of the viewer. The signal input to each of the plurality of light-transmitting electrodes is determined on the basis of the positional information when the plurality of pixels arranged in a column for display for a left eye, which is included in the matrix arrangement of the plurality of pixels, perform the display for the left eye, and the plurality of pixels arranged in a column for display for a right eye, which is included in the matrix arrangement of the plurality of pixels and different from the column for the display for the left eye, perform the display for the right eye.

When a display image is the left eye image, entering of light into the right eye of a viewer is shielded, while when the display image is the right eye image, the light is prevented from entering the left eye of the viewer. At the time of black display when the backlight unit is turned off, an image signal is written in a pixel as well.
