    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device that prevents a bag body from moving upward when a seat cushion enters between a side door and the body of an occupant. SOLUTION: The side airbag device is configured as follows. When an inflator 22 is started and gas is supplied to a bag body 32, a first bag part 38 located at the bottom and having the smallest capacity in the bag body 32 divided into three parts, is inflated and developed, and then, the first bag part 38 partially enters gaps between the thighs of an occupant 14 and the upper surface of a seat cushion 16 to be brought into contact with the thighs of the occupant 14 from below. Thus, when the first bag part 38, furthermore, the bag body 32 rises, the thighs of the occupant 14 interfere with the first bag part 38 from above, thereby preventing or suppressing the first bag part 38, furthermore, the bag body 32 from rising. This configuration prevents the seat cushion 16 entering inside a vehicle chamber and pressed by the side door from rising and entering the development area of the bag body 32 between the side door and the occupant 14, while preventing or suppressing the first bag part 38 from being pushed up.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly expand an airbag on vehicle width direction both sides in the initial deployment of the airbag. SOLUTION: A pair of upper side airbag doors 28 and a pair of lower side airbag doors 30 are divided and formed in an instrument panel 20 by: a pair of vertical breaking scheduled parts 22; an additional vertical breaking scheduled part 24 formed in parallel with the pair of vertical breaking scheduled parts 22 between the pair of vertical breaking scheduled parts 22; and a pair of lateral breaking scheduled parts 26 extended in the vehicle width direction from the vehicle width direction both sides of the additional vertical breaking scheduled part 24 and connected to the pair of vertical breaking scheduled parts 22. When the pair of vertical breaking scheduled parts 22 and the pair of lateral breaking scheduled parts 26 are broken and the airbag 16 is expanded on the vehicle width direction both sides of the airbag door 12, an upper side airbag door 28 and lower side airbag door 30, and another upper side airbag door 28 and lower side airbag door 30 are deformed on a vehicle upper and lower directional upper side, by using the additional vertical breaking scheduled part 24 as a point of origin.
