      SOLUTION: The rotation type sensor is provided with a case 1 having a support part; a rotator 3 having an engaging hole 3f and rotatably supported at the case 1; a drive shaft 9 to be engaged with the engaging hole 3f of the rotator 3; an elastic member held at the engaging hole 3f and in elastic contact with the circumferential surface of the drive shaft 9 for transmitting the rotation of the drive shaft 9 to the rotator 3; and a rotation detecting means for detecting the rotation of the rotator 3. The elastic member comprises both a first elastic member 4, in elastic contact with one surface of the drive shaft 9 for pressing it in one direction, and a second elastic member 5 in elastic contact with another surface of the drive shaft 9 which intersects with the one surface at right angles for pressing it, in a direction which intersects with the pressing direction of the first elastic member 4 at right angles. A flat surface forms a contact part of the drive shaft 9 with the first elastic member 4, and a pair of spring pieces 4a opposed to each other on both sides of a slit 4b at a center form an elastic contact part of the first elastic member 4.
