摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a receiver which can deal with compatible television signals by extending the side part video scanning area information of standard aspect ratio image and inputting it to a wide aspect ratio screen receiver. CONSTITUTION: Horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals are taken out of video signals by a separator 312 and respectively sent to deflection circuits 316 and 318, and electronic beams are deflected with amplitudes forming the raster of 5:3. Besides, the horizontal synchronizing signal is supplied to respective Y, I and Q time extenders 321, 322 and 324 and the operation of extenders is synchronized with the input signal. On the other hand, a Y signal separated by a Y/C separator 314 is supplied to the luminance time extender 321, I and Q signals are demodulated and respectively supplied to the I and Q time extenders 322 and 324 and at a compatible synthetic video signal generator on the side of transmission, the time extension of raster is performed by canceling signals time-compressing both left and right terminal parts at a prescribed inclination rate. Thus, even a standard television receiver can reproduce images in wide aspect ratio.

The level written in the memory 19 is subtracted from the output sample of multiplexer 18 during the next line sweep period by a subtractor 20, and a transfer smear-suppressed video signal sample is taken out.
