    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection device and method for detecting drifting material, capable of determining whether the device is in a floating material such as a heavy oil or not, surely and easily even in waves, where the device is a simple device mountable on a floating body such as a buoy for unmanned drifting material monitoring or a fixed point buoy, or mountable on a support installed on a fixed point on a coast part or the like.
      SOLUTION: This drifting material detection device 30 is equipped with a rotary drum 31 whose part is floating in the state of penetrating the water surface W.L. by setting a rotation axis direction Z in the vertical direction during detection, a rotation driving device 33 for rotating the rotary drum 31, a control means for controlling rotation driving of the rotation driving device 33, a detection means for detecting a rotational frequency or driving power, and a determination means for determining whether the drifting material detection device 30 is in the drifting material or not based on the rotational frequency or the driving power. The device 30 is constituted so that the rotary drum 31 is moved vertically following vertical movement of the water surface W.L.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unmanned monitoring buoy for drifting materials, a monitoring system for drifting materials and a method thereof which can detect the position of the drifting materials by facilitating collection of the drifting materials such as heavy oil on the water and automatically tracking by detecting the position of the drifting materials in order to reduce the effect on the natural environment and local economy due to oil spill incident such as heavy oil, and can detect the data of hydrographical/meteorological phenomenon of the drifting water area of the drifting materials and transmit the data to the base station in real time.
      SOLUTION: The unmanned monitoring buoy (10) for drifting materials is put in a water area having the drifting materials (Fo), and automatically repeats surfacing and downwelling in the water area. The monitoring buoy detects the existence or non-existence and the position of the drifting materials (Fo) on the water surface part when it is under the water surface. After detecting, the monitoring buoy floats toward the position of the drifting material (Fo) to be detected, and sends the position information and the data of hydrographical/meteorological phenomenon or the like when floating in the area of the drifting materials (Fo) on the water surface.
