    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe propelling device capable of rapidly measuring the position of a leading pipe while reducing errors, thus enabling pipes to be easily and automatically laid on a curve along a planned trajectory with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A position measuring device M for a propelling device P comprises two kinds of measuring apparatuses, i.e., an optical measuring apparatus 40 and a gyro type measuring apparatus 60 both of which can measure the two- or three-dimensional position of a leading pipe 11A relative to a vertical shaft 2. A controller 70 for the propelling device P recognizes the position of the leading pipe 11A by correcting errors in data about the measurement of the position of the leading pipe 11A taken by the gyro type measuring apparatus 60, on the basis of data about the measurement of the position of the leading pipe 11A taken by the optical measuring apparatus 40, and it then controls a group of opening adjusting jacks 12 so that the propelled position of the leading pipe 11A coincides with preinput planned trajectory data, thus laying the plurality of pipes 11 in a curve.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible Hume pipe whereby labor required for work at laying time is decreased as far as possible, work man hours and a cost at laying time can be reduced. SOLUTION: In a flexible Hume pipe 10, relative movement of a front/rear pipe part 11, 26 can be performed. In a rear end periphery of the front pipe part 11, a guide sleeve 13 and a first collar 15 arranged in an annular recessed part 12 are fixed. In a front end periphery of the rear pipe part 26, an annular recessed part 27 and a seal material 23 are provided. A cylindrical second collar 22, fit mounting a front end side able to advance/retract between a first collar 15 and a guide sleeve 22, extends a rear end side from the first collar 15, a rear end internal peripheral surface is brought into press contact with the seal material 23, to be connected to the rear pipe part 26. In a location covered with the first collar 15, a total periphery of the front end part is fixed to the guide sleeve 13, a bellows pipe 20 fixed with the total periphery of the rear end part to the second collar 22 to have extending/contracting flexibility is arranged.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the traveled distance of a head pipe, while reducing errors, and accurately propel the pipe along the planned track, and facilitate maintenance. SOLUTION: This propulsion method involves controlling, using a controller, an adjustment jack whose head pipe is adjustable in direction, while measuring the traveled distance of the head pipe by use of a distance measuring device 31, and propelling the head pipe so that the head pipe goes along the planned track including a curved part. The distance measuring device 31 includes a drum 35 whose rotation is controlled by a torque controller 36, a wire 38 wound on the drum 35, an angle detector 37 for detecting the rotation of the drum 35, and a tension adjustment device 41 controlling the torque controller 36. During the propulsion of the head pipe, the wire 38 is extended with the tension held constant by the tension adjustment device 41, and the controller receives the input of a signal from the angle detector 37 to calculate the distance traveled by the head pipe, so as to control the adjustment jack.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conveniently and accurately measure specified position in a tunnel even so bending hard to see through at a low cost, without managing a person to enter it. SOLUTION: A top end system 2 is composed of a reflection mirror. An intermediate system 4 comprises a laser measuring unit 12 for measuring the distance from the top end system 2 by irradiating a laser beam on the reflection mirror 2, television camera 11 for taking the image of a light reflected from the mirror 2, reflection mirror 13 for reflecting the laser beam from a shaft system 5, laser distance meter 12, two-axis gimbal 14 for supporting the television camera, etc., actuators 15, 16 for rotating the gimbal 14 to face the intermediate system 4 just at the top end system 2 based on the reflected light image from the reflective mirror 13, and angle detectors 17, 18 for detecting the angle of the laser distance meter when just facing. The shaft system 5 is constituted in the same constitution of the intermediate system 4 from which only the reflection mirror is removed, and a position measuring controller 6 measures the three-dimensional position of the top end of a tunnel 1, based on a distance signal from the laser distance meter and angle signal from the angle detector.
