    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose measures for improving a traffic congestion possibly occurs even when there is no specific obstacle in car or vehicle traffic such as on an expressway and railroad and for allowing drivers to be effectively and safely incorporated into control. SOLUTION: A method and a device for automatically calculating control variable for stabilizing a distance between vehicles to add the amounts by adding and combination for each vehicle while sharing work as a man-machine system and making drivers to operate functions for controlling distance between vehicles and speed are provided. The stabilization of distances between vehicles is achieved by a distributed control method properly accumulating acceleration/deceleration information from preceding vehicles to make relay transmissions backward. Thereby, a system is achieved, in which the stabilization of the sequence of distances between vehicles becomes possible without requiring measurements of the distances between vehicles themselves, installation is facilitated and security is secured because the drivers have still been carrying out local control.
